WVU received 29 points in the poll, voted on by the Big 12’s head coached. Texas Tech was picked to finish first with seven first-place votes while TCU and Texas were picked second and third, respectively, with one first-place vote each.
The Mountaineers went 11-5 in the COVID-19-shortened 2020 season. Three returners were named to the Preseason All-Big 12 team Wednesday, second baseman Tyler Doanes, catcher Paul McIntosh and starting pitcher Jackson Wolf.
A full 2021 schedule has not yet been released, but the Mountaineers will open conference play with a three-game home series against Kansas on March 26-28.
