The spring practice period is about getting the current WVU football team ready for the summer, fall camp and then the 2025 season. But the other added bonus of spring ball is being able to showcase the program to perspective recruits. It’s a way for them to see the coaches in action and even meet the players who made the decision to become Mountaineers.

Two full weeks through spring, West Virginia has hosted numerous top recruits. Below are some of the more recent high school players who have made the trip to Morgantown for a spring visit.

Owen Winder – 2026 3-star OL, MI

Emory Synder – 2026 3-star DB, OK

Tilden Riley V – 2026 ATH, S.C.

WVU sent an offer to Riley back in February. West Virginia tight ends coach Michael Nysewander is leading the recruitment of Riley since West Virginia views the multi-sport athlete as a tight end.

Riley (6-foot-5 and 205 pounds) revealed on social media that he received the offer during a talk with Nysewander. Even though Riley is still hoping to gain more recognition from national outlets, he does hold seven total Division I offers.

Tariq Boney – 2026 DE, Washington, DC

Carter Jones – 2027 OL, VA

Rodriguez and his staff saw enough from 2027 offensive line recruit Carter Jones during his visit to make him an official offer. Jones announced that the offer came at the end of his trip to Morgantown on Saturday.

โ€œAfter an amazing visit and conversation with Coach Rodriguez and Coach (Jack) Bicknell, I am blessed to receive a D1 scholarship to WVU,โ€ posted Jones on X (formerly Twitter).ย

Listed at 6-foot-6 and 285 pounds, Jones attends Poquoson High School in Virginia. West Virginia is recruiting Jones as an offensive lineman, but some see him as more of a defensive lineman.
