Based on the recent changes to the WVU football roster, the 2026 team will look a lot different from the 2025 Mountaineers. After a rough 4-8 experience in year one of Rich Rodriguez’s return to West Virginia, most would argue a revamping of the roster was necessary.

While change was needed and inevitable, the higher number of transfer departures than Rodriguez initially projected, coupled with several prominent stars exiting, has led to some fans voicing a concern about the program undergoing another rebuilding year.

And in the midst of the chaos, former players have expressed negative feelings about Rodriguez’s “Hard Edge” philosophy. However, it’s also important to note many of the players who entered the transfer portal were actually told to do so and cut by West Virginia, something WV Sports Now is 100% confident in through trusted sources. The new transfer additions have earned national recognition as well.

So when you put everything together, are you, the WVU fan, more optimistic, less optimistic or feeling the same about the team moving forward?
