Former West Virginia men’s basketball player Casey Mitchell has been arrested recently on a 2013 rape charge in Greece, reported by WBOY 12 News. Mitchell is facing extradition back to Greece.

WBOY reports that Mitchell was taken into custody in Fairmont on Wednesday by U.S. Marshals. After the initial accusation for a Greek woman in 2011, Mitchell failed to attend his court case which resulted in a warrant for his arrest by the Greek government.

Court documents state that the woman had scratches and bruises on her body. WBOY reports that Mitchell met with a judge over Zoom on Thursday and will meet again on Monday to discuss if there’s probable cause to grant Mitchell’s extradition back to Greece.

Mitchell played at West Virginia for two years from 2009-11 and was a member of the Final Four team in 2010. After graduating, Mitchell went onto play professionally in the NBA D-League and internationally in Slovenia, Germany and Israel.
