The WVU basketball program has added another game to its 2025-26 non-conference schedule. West Virginia will host Lehigh on Sunday, Nov. 9, according to a report by college basketball analyst Rocco Miller.

This matchup against Lehigh serves as a balance to WVU’s non-conference schedule, with a neutral site series against ACC foe Wake Forest also on the docket. The Mountaineers announced the series with Wake Forest on July 16.

The 2025-26 season will mark the first for Ross Hodge as head coach. The Mountaineers missed the NCAA Tournament last season despite ESPN bracketologist Joe Lunardi listing them as a lock heading into the conference tournament. They last made the Big Dance in 2023 under Basketball Hall of Famer Bob Huggins.

College basketball programs typically play 31 games during the regular season: the Mountaineersโ€™ conference schedule accounts for 18 of those games, leaving them with 13 out of conference matchups to boost their rรฉsumรฉ. For one of those matchups, theyโ€™ll host the hated Pittsburgh Panthers on Thursday, Nov. 13 in the 192nd occurrence of the Backyard Brawl.

Hodge spoke on the current roster and gave an update on the final roster spot in a press conference Thursday.

The Mountaineers have one roster spot available, which Hodge said he intends to fill and has been working on โ€œdaily.โ€

โ€œWe still have one scholarship and weโ€™re working on that, you know, daily,โ€ Hodge said.

While size helps, Hodge said he is looking for the best available player to fill the final spot.

โ€œAt this point in time, youโ€™re trying to best available more than anything, but I think, commonly, most basketball fans look at rosters and they always want you to add another big guy, which I get, but I always have to remind people, thereโ€™s usually only one really big guy out there on the floor at the time,โ€ Hodge said.
