Troy University is underway on beginning final interviews.
Lesley is one of the finalists with Alabama associate defensive coordinator Charles Kelly, Kentucky co-defensive coordinator Jon Sumrall and a fourth unnamed candidate.
All four candidates were set to meet with Troy athletic director Brent Jones on Thursday.
Lesley has a lot of Troy ties, as the Mississippi native played there and graduated from there. Lesley was apart of Neal Brown’s staff while at Troy, and then joined Brown when he was hired in January 2019.
As defensive coordinator for two seasons at West Virginia, Lesley helped lead a top defense in the country, as the Mountaineers allowed 20.5 points per game in 2020.
Last week, Lesley was linked with the Troy head coach vacancy but now is reportedly in an interview position to become the Trojans’ next head coach.
