MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Some may view the 2025 WVU football season as a lost year no matter what. And even after a 29-22 win over Colorado, some may still argue it’s a year fans will want to forget. However, that’s clearly not the mindset of Rich Rodriguez and his Mountaineers.

“First off, I’m really proud of the guys to pull out a win. We did not really play well, but they stayed engaged. When they (Colorado) started making a comeback, nobody panicked, and we will take any win we can get,” said Rodriguez at the start of his postgame press conference on Saturday.

Even though he admitted was never comfortable in a game that had many peaks and valleys, Rodriguez let out a big smile and offered a “shoot, we won, Let’s go Mountaineers!”

While he was hesitant to discuss WVU’s bowl prospects leading up to the game, Rodriguez was finally willing to address the new reality for his team.

“It was the first time I talked to the guys about it, but we still have a chance to make a bowl game,” said Rodriguez to acknowledge that winning out means ending a season that once looked like one of the worst in program history with a postseason opportunity of some kind.

The task won’t be easy from now on, but Reid Carrico, who had two sacks against the Buffaloes, and Diore Hubbard, who ran for 64 yards on the ground and 94 more through the air, both feel the mini win steak has drastically improved the vibes within the team, making them believe anything is now possible.
