Senior Bowl Recognizes Several Mountaineers as Players to Watch
NFL Draft hopefuls know earning an invitation to the Senior Bowl is a big opportunity to boost their value to pro scouts. And on Wednesday, several Mountaineers took one step in that direction by being named players to watch by the Senior Bowl.
WVU linebacker Ty French, quarterback Garrett Greene, defensive back Garnett Hollis Jr., defensive lineman Sean Martin and offensive lineman Wyatt Milum made the cut.
In addition to this recognition from the Senior Bowl, Greene recently received some praise from someone in charge of another major event of NFL Draft season.
Eric Galko, the Director of Football Operations and Player Personnel for the Shrine Bowl, detailed his thoughts about Greene as a pro prospect ahead of the 2024 season.
How Does Top Figure in NFL Scouting Community View Garrett Greene?
“In his first season as a full-time starter, Garrett Greene proved to be a dynamic impact player for the Mountaineer offense, leading WVU to a 9-win season for the first time since 2016. Greene emerged as one of the best dual threat QBs in the country, and his athleticism has even prompted scouts to be curious about his ability as a receiver as well as a quarterback,” said Galko in a long post on social media on Aug. 13.
From the Senior Bowl….
“Our scouting team has been working since last February to identify the “best of the best” draft prospects at every level of college football for the 2025 NFL Draft.
It takes professional evaluators to identify future professional players and this year’s Senior Bowl staff will be comprised of thirteen scouts with over 200 years of NFL experience. Our staff will rely on decades worth of relationships at the college and NFL levels to stay on top of all the risers, career backup late-bloomers, and transfers taking advantage of opportunities in their final seasons.
One of our goals each year is to get live game exposures on as many prospects as possible so our Senior Bowl scouts will be at stadiums across the country every week this college season.
To all players not listed, please know this is just a starting point. Film is the most important criteria in our selection process and every player will be re-evaluated based on their tape this fall. We know how hard you all have worked since last season, so we owe it to you to stay open-minded and exhaustive in our process.
Good luck and we hope your draft starts in Mobile!”
