WVU Football OL recruit Brendan Alexander out of WPIAL

Class of 2026 prospect Brendan Alexander feels truly wanted by West Virginia. The Central Valley lineman, who is busy making a name for himself at one of the best high school programs in Pittsburgh’s WPIAL, talked to WV Sports Now about his recent visit to WVU and being coveted by schools both near and far.

Alexander (6-foot-4, 280 pounds) described his experience spending time touring the WVU facility and spending time with the West Virginia coaches as being shown “mad love” and “amazing.”

Since he’s clocked time on both the offensive and defensive lines and is being recruited in both sides of the ball, it was important for Alexander to know where he stood with the Mountaineers. Alexander explained that it was instantly clear WVU sees him as an offensive lineman, which is perfectly fine with him.

West Virginia tight ends coach Blaine Stewart and offensive line coach Matt Moore are leading the recruiting charge for Alexander, who officially earned an offer on Jan. 23.

Alexander describes himself as “versatile, dominant and a student of the game,” attributes that help explain why Penn State and Pitt are also courting the Monaca native within the region, and schools like Akron, Boston College, Bowling Green, Duke and North Carolina State are showing interest too.

Alexander just wrapped up a visit to State College at the end of January.

All in all, Alexander’s first trip south to Morgantown was a positive one and one that he won’t forget as he continues to enjoy being so highly coveted. But with two seasons left of high level WPIAL high school football, the sky appears to be the limit when it comes to the attention a player like Alexander could still receive.
