WVU Football OL Malik Agbo

All 105 is a West Virginia Sports Now series profiling each member of the 2025 WVU football roster.

Malik Agbo transferred to West Virginia this offseason after spending the first three seasons of his collegiate career with the Texas Longhorns. An offensive lineman who stands 6-foot-4 and weighs 270 pounds, Agbo played both guard and tackle during his time in Austin.ย

Although he appeared in all 16 of the Longhornsโ€™ games in 2024, Agbo primarily served as a tight end in jumbo sets, adding another big body up front to pave holes in the running game. Because Agbo checked in as the eligible receiver during those plays, the potential remains for the Mountaineers to use him as a trick play target during goal line or short yardage situations.

Last year: Malik Agbo entered the Longhornsโ€™ 2024 season as their third string left tackle. Despite that billing, he managed to get on the field in every single one of their games, helping an offense that racked up more than 7,000 yards and reached the semifinal round of the College Football Playoff.

Stats: Agbo made 32 game appearances out of a potential 43 during his three seasons with the Longhorns. After making just two appearances during his first season, a redshirt year, Agbo played in every single game for the rest of his Longhorns career.

Camp outlook: Although Texas listed Agbo as weighing 300 pounds last season, he checks in at 270 pounds on the Mountaineersโ€™ roster. Thatโ€™s a good deal smaller than the average Division I lineman and could indicate that WVU Football plans to use him in a different roleโ€ฆ which is especially interesting given his history at tight end. However, heโ€™s still listed as an offensive lineman on the roster.

Projected role: Given his drop in size, the Mountaineers likely donโ€™t plan to use Agbo as one of their five starters on the offensive line in 2025. With his experience in a variety of positions, however, he could serve as a valuable swing tackle or jumbo tight end much like he did at Texas.

Accolades, highlights: Rivals ranked Agbo as the No. 202 player nationally in the class of 2022; they also ranked him as the No. 17 offensive tackle in the country. Most recruiting sites ranked him amongst the top five recruits in the state of Washington.
