Tulsa Hires Former Mountaineer Ryan Stanchek as OL Coach

A former Mountaineer player continues to move up the coaching ranks.
Ryan Stanchek, who played a critical role as a key member of West Virginia’s offensive line during one of the most successful periods in program history, has been hired by Tulsa as their new offensive line coach. Stanchek spent the 2022 season as the co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach at Austin Peay.

The 36-year-old started his coaching career as a grad assistant at Indiana in 2011 after a brief attempt at playing football professionally, most notably being signed as a free agent by the Atlanta Falcons after the 2009 NFL Draft. After being a member of the Falcons’ practice squad in 2009, Stanchek then played one season for the Arena Football League’s Cleveland Gladiators before switching gears and deciding to pursue a career in coaching instead.
He now joins a Tulsa team that went 5-7 this past season. Stanchek played for WVU from 2004-2009, blocking the likes of Pat White, Steve Slaton and Noel Devine.
