Mountaineers in the Pros
A Look at How Former WVU Stars Fared During 2022 NFL Regular Season

With the 2022 NFL season now over, it’s time to reflect on how many former Mountaineers were on NFL rosters and what kind of impact they were able to make.
WVU Sports Hall of Famer Geno Smith’s Pro Bowl season obviously stands out among the rest, but he was far from the only West Virginia product to contribute to an NFL team this season.
Geno Smith
Geno Smith took his game to another level in his first season as a full-time starter in almost a decade. Smith put up historically great numbers in terms of efficiency throughout most of the season and also finished in the top 5 in most passing categories. He made the NFC roster for the Pro Bowl, is a favorite to win NFL Comeback Player of the Year and led the Seahawks to a playoff birth. Smith threw for a Seattle franchise record 4,282 yards, 30 touchdowns and 11 interceptions while completing a league-leading 69.8% of his passes and posting a 100.9 rating.
Bruce Irvin
Bruce Irvin managed to get himself back into the NFL this season. During his third tenure with the Seahawks, Irvin made 28 total tackles and was credited with 3.5 sacks in 11 games played. Irvin will now appear in another postseason with Seattle, looking for third trip to the Super Bowl and second ring.

David Sills V
He’s had to fight for opportunities throughout his two years in the NFL, but David Sills did get more looks in 2022 compared to the year prior. Sills caught 11 passes for 106 yards in nine games played after only getting in four in 2021. Will Sills be able to see any action in the playoffs?
Rasul Douglas
Former Mountaineer Rasul Doulas had his best individual season in his second year with Green Bay. Douglas played in every game, making 85 tackles and getting credit for 69 of them on his own. He also picked off 4 passes, highlighted by a couple game sealing interceptions at the end of games.

Mark Glowinski
The NFL veteran started in 11 games for the Giants, helping lead New York to the playoffs for the first time since 2016.
Nick Kwiatkoski
2022 marked Nick Kwiatkoski’s first year with the Falcons and seventh in the NFL. He recorded seven tackles in 12 games.
Tony Fields II
Even though 2022 was disappointing for the Browns as a team, it did allow Tony Fields II to show what he can do on the NFL level. In all 17 games, Fields made 48 tackles, 29 as solo, picked off a pass and forced a fumble.
Kyzir White
It was evident Kyzir White’s big 2021 season was no fluke. White proved to be a key piece to the Eagles winning the NFC East in his first season in Philadelphia after spending his whole career with the Chargers. White made 110 tackles with 1.5 sacks in 2022.
Daryl Worley
Daryl Worley appeared in eight games for Baltimore, making eight tackles.
Trevon Wesco
Used mostly as a blocking tight end, Trevon Wesco had two receptions for 26 yards for the Bears.
Yodny Cajuste
Yodny Cajuste spent the season with New England.
Will Grier
After a stellar preseason, a groin injury kept Will Grier from winning the backup job in Dallas. Instead, Cooper Rush was who the Cowboys turned to when stater Dak Prescott was hurt early in the season. Grier now hopes for another chance to showcase his game in the 2023 preseason.
David Long
David Long had his best year in the NFL yet, totaling 86 tackles and two interceptions for the Titans.
Kevin White
Injuries have never allowed the former WVU star receiver to have much NFL success, and that happened again in 2022. Kevin White caught a couple passes for 74 yards with the Saints in seven games.

Adam Pankey

Colton McKivitz
A key cog to their NFC West title, Colton McKivtz will experience the playoffs with the 49ers.
Kenny Robinson
Kenny Robinson posted 17 tackles in 10 games with Carolina.
Karl Joseph
Unfortunately, Karl Joseph missed the 2022 season, spending it on IR with the Steelers.
