A day after his fellow Mountaineer teammate went yard in his Pittsburgh homecoming against the Pirates, Victor Scott hits a home run of his own.

Not nearly known for the long ball as much as JJ Wetherholt, Scott sent a third inning pitch over the fence for his first home run of the season. Scott’s home run was a solo shot.

He now has eight career MLB home runs, adding his first of 2026 to the five he hit last season.

Scott’s home run was his only hit of the night – he went 1-for-4 and is only hitting .194 on the year, granted he has three stolen bases. Scott swiped 34 bags in 2025.

The Cardinals won the game 11-7, taking the first two games of the four-game series.

St. Louis drafted Scott in the fifth round in 2022. He rose quickly through the Cardinals’ system, finishing near the top of the minor league standings with 94 stolen bases in 2023, his first and only full season as a member of the farm system.

Note: Wetherholt went 1-for-3 with a double, three runs scored and a walk in his second game back in Pittsburgh. He also made a highlight worthy defensive play.
