West Virginia Commit Mohamed Wague Signs National Letter of Intent

On Wednesday afternoon, WVU head coach Bob Huggins announced that Mohamed Wague has signed his National Letter of Intent and will join the Mountaineers for the 2022-23 season.

“All I can say is how blessed I am for the opportunity and being able to play for a Hall of Famer . It don’t get any better,” Wague told WV Sports Now about his commitment.

Wague made the announcement official on his Twitter on Monday night.

Wague has been a JUCO prospect that the West Virginia staff has put a high priority on. The Bamako, Mali, native averaged 14.8 points, 11.9 rebounds and 2.9 blocks through 35 games in JUCO. The forward shot 65 percent from the field as well. Wague helped Harcum College (PA) to a 32-3 record as a freshman. Wague was named to the NJCAA All-American First Team, along with future teammate Patrick Suemnick.

The JUCO product visited Morgantown a few weeks ago in March. Wague loved the “family” atomsphere that the program brings to the table.

“I really like how they are united, they do everything as a family,” he said.

Iowa transfer Joe Toussaint committed to WVU earlier on Monday. With the acquisition of Wague and Toussaint, the Mountaineers have two open scholarships remaining after Fede Federiko de-committed from West Virginia.
