When the Eagles won their first Super Bowl, multiple former Mountaineers earned rings. But even though Philadelphia’s Super Bowl LIX winning team didn’t include any ex WVU players, there’s still reason for West Virginia to celebrate.

A native West Virginian actually made significant NFL history on Sunday night. Autumn Lockwood, a graduate of University High School in Morgantown, became the first Black female coach to ever win the Super Bowl, doing so in her third year with the Eagles.

Lockwood has served as an associate performance coach with Eagles since 2023. Prior to her current role, Lockwood initially served as the team’s strength and conditioning associate when hired in 2022.

Lockwood, a 2021 graduate of University High School, earned a degree in criminal justice from the University of Arizona in 2015. She then received her masterโ€™s degree in sports management in 2020 from East Tennessee State University.

She even made history when the Eagles lost to the Chiefs two years ago, becoming just the fourth woman to ever coach in the Super Bowl.
