West Virginia Offers Scholarship to 7th Grader

Not something you see every day.

Ausar Heard, a 7th grader from New Jersey, was offered a scholarship by West Virginia’s football program on Thursday night. Heard plays wide receiver and linebacker at Eastern Junior High.

Heard is a member of the class of 2027.

“Blessed to receive my first offer in 7th grade from West Virginia University,” Heard wrote on Twitter.

Neal Brown and his coaching staff extended their first offer to a member of the class of 2027 in Heard.

Looking ahead at the future of WVU football recruiting, the coaching staff has secured six commitments for the class of 2023. Josiah Trotter (LB), Cameron Calhoun (CB), Josiah Jackson (CB), Jahiem White (RB), Raheim Jeter (QB) and Cameron Jackson (DL). The 2023 class for WVU ranks 21st in the country and fourth in the Big 12.
