West Virginia Offers South Carolina 2022 3-Star RB CJ Stokes
Sunday night, the West Virginia staff extended an offer to a talented recruit from South Carolina.
2022 3-star running back CJ Stokes (Hammond School in Columbia, South Carolina) received word that his latest Power Five offer was from Neal Brown’s program. Stokes (5-foot-11, 190-pounds) also holds Power Five offers from Michigan, Missouri, Vanderbilt, South Carolina, Colorado, Duke, Louisville, Minnesota, Penn State and Wake Forest.
West Virginia Sports Now had the chance to catch up with Stokes following his phone call with the West Virginia coaches.
“Coach Scott called me last night and gave me the news,” Stokes told WV Sports Now. “I was excited because it’s always good to see your hard work paying off. Coach told me that he loves my speed, size and one cut and go ability.”

Stokes, who was named All Region Co-Offensive Player of the Year, is a player that’s been compared to former Penn State great Saquon Barkley because of his ability to both run and catch the ball with equal aplomb.
“I feel that my abilities are pretty balanced and I can do a bit of everything by running, catching and also blocking,” said Stokes.
Although West Virginia is getting involved a little later in his recruitment, Stokes tells us a that at least his point he doesn’t have any leaders and the Mountaineers are still in the hunt.
“My recruitment is wide open right now, so I don’t have any favorites. Everybody has a chance on me right now.”
Stokes does tells WV Sports Now that he has three official visits lined up: Vanderbilt (June 4-6), Missouri (June 11-13) and Michigan (June 18-20).
