West Virginia Picked Ninth in Big 12 MBB Preseason Poll

The Big 12 Conference released its men’s basketball preseason poll on Thursday afternoon. West Virginia was voted to finish ninth in the conference, receiving 20 vote points.

Baylor was picked to finish first in the preseason poll for the second time in the last three years. Baylor, Kansas and Texas all received first-place votes.

Big 12 MBB Preseason Poll:

1. Baylor / 77 (5)

2. Kansas / 73 (4)

3. Texas / 64 (1)

4. TCU / 58

T-5. Oklahoma State / 42

T-5. Texas Tech / 42

7. Oklahoma / 32

8. Iowa State / 30

9. West Virginia / 20

10. Kansas State / 12

On Wednesday, the Big 12 announced the preseason player awards with TCU G Mike Miles Jr. being named the Preseason Player of the Year. Oklahoma’s Grant Sherfield was named the Preseason Newcomer of the Year and Baylor’s Keyonte George was named Preseason Freshman of the Year.

Next Wednesday, 10 head coaches and selected players will travel to Kansas City and attend the Big 12 Media Day.
