West Virginia Picked to Finish Last in Big 12 Preseason Media Poll

WVU Football HC Neal Brown

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before. The West Virginia Mountaineers are expected to endure another losing season and be at the bottom of the Big 12. No need to stop me, right?

As par for the course, WVU is once again predicted to be a bad football team in 2023. And as some have also said, Neal Brown’s team is projected to be even worse than they were in 2022, a season in which they finished shy of bowl eligibility at 5-7.

And this time, members of the media who directly cover Big 12 teams, like ourselves at WV Sports Now, are the ones saying this. The Big 12 Football Media Preseason Poll results are out and WVU was voted to end up in last place.

Receiving only 129 points, which is in contrast to Texas accumulating 886 as the team predicted to win the conference, the Mountaineers were unanimously selected as the worst team in the Big 12.

Cincinnati (202) and Houston (215) were picked to be right above West Virginia in the standings

As Neal Brown looks to improve upon his team’s 5-7 record in 2022 and get the program headed in the right direction, he will have to do it by proving all of his doubters wrong.
