Jovani Haskins, a redshirt junior tight end, has been named to the John Mackey Award Preseason Watch List. The award is given to the best tight end in college football and will be announced on December 11, 2019 but presented the next day on the Home Depot College Football Awards Red Carpet Show on ESPNU. You can keep tabs on the award race and learn more info about the historic award at www.johnmackeyaward.com.

Haskins is one of three tight ends identified on the list that are from the Big 12, along with Charlie Kolar of Iowa State and Grant Calcaterra from Oklahoma.

Jovani is from Bergenfield, NJ, and originally committed to the University of Miami back in 2016. He ultimately transferred to WVU in 2017 due to wanting a fresh start somewhere not Miami.

In the 2018 season, Haskins played in 12 games and finished the season with 148 yards on 16 catches. He did play we vital role in the Texas win as he had some big plays in the second half.

I predict an even better season from Haskins based solely on head coach Neal Brown’s offensive philosophy, and after seeing what Trevon Wesco did for WVU last season, having a big tight end can be very helpful for winning games in the Big 12.
