The winner between the two will face Louisville or Indiana in the second round on Thanksgiving Day.

West Virginia-Gonzaga

Oklahoma-Providence

Arizona-Davidson

West Virginia and Gonzaga last played in December 2020 in a top-10 matchup. Gonzaga escaped late 87-82 in Indianapolis.

Gonzaga is entering year 25 with head coach Mark Few. The Bulldogs return a lot of their roster from last season while bringing in notable transfers Khalif Battle (G – Arkansas), Michael Ajayi (F – Pepperdine), Braeden Smith (G – Colgate) and others. Gonzaga started out slow last year but bounced back for another Sweet-16 appearance, the school’s ninth-straight.

The Battle 4 Atlantis event will take place from Nov. 27-29 in the Bahamas. The other side of the field includes former Big 12 school Oklahoma and a newcomer of the conference in Arizona.

West Virginia was originally supposed to play in the 2020 Battle 4 Atlantis, but the COVID-19 virus prevented the initial tournament from occurring. WVU ended up heading to South Dakota for the Bad Boy Mowers Invitational, which the Mountaineers won.
