What Made WVU the Right Place for LB Chase Wilson?
MORGANTOWN, W.Va – After five years at one school, Chase Wilson decided to move east to wrap up his college career at WVU. It would’ve been easy for Wilson to just stay and finish at Colorado State, but taking his talents to West Virginia was an opportunity he couldn’t pass up.
Wilson explained what sold him on becoming a Mountaineer after fall camp practice on Monday.
For the 6-foot-1, 230-pound linebacker, WVU provided him a path to compete within the Power Four. Wilson also believed in West Virginia defensive coordinator Zac Alley’s plan. In fact, Wilson liked Alley’s pitch so much that he committed to WVU just two days after announcing his intentions to transfer.
To be more specific, Wilson said he liked the aggression and blitz packages of Alley’s defenses. He feels he can thrive under Alley and even be a leader for the linebackers.
Wilson earned his second straight All-Mountain West second team selection in 2024. He totaled the second most tackles on his team with 98.
Throughout his college career, Wilson has 234 tackles in 37 games with the Rams.
Now it’s up to Wilson to prove himself at a new school, in a new place and in a new conference.
