Will Former WVU WR Switch Sides of Rivalry as Pitt Shows Interest?
Is it possible a former WVU player may jump to the other side of the Backyard Brawl rivalry? Pitt, West Virginia’s arch rival up north, is showing interest former WVU wide receiver and North Texas transfer Jeremiah Aaron.
Aaron — a 5-foot-11, 190-pound wideout from Natchitoches, Louisiana — has heard from Pitt since entering the transfer portal, The Portal Report reports. It remains to be seen how far that interest will progress, if at all, but Aaron joining the Panthers would be an interesting development.

Aaron was a junior college star out of Pearland High in the class of 2020, spending two seasons at Navarro Junior College. He earned NJCAA second-team All-American honors in 2021, racking up 1,775 all-purpose yards — including 49 receptions for 911 yards and eight touchdowns.
He made the jump to West Virginia before the 2022 season and spent two seasons with the Mountaineers. He recorded 13 receptions for 132 yards and a touchdown.
He entered the portal again in November of 2023 and transferred to North Texas, playing in just four games. He caught five passes for 97 yards and a touchdown in limited action.
Aaron has received offers from Louisiana Tech, Troy and Texas State, along with interest from ECU, JMU, Pitt and Toledo, since entering the portal.
