WVU Adds Commitment from Minnesota Transfer DB Beanie Bishop

Minnesota transfer DB Beanie Bishop commits to WVU.

With hopes of revamping the West Virginia defense to a higher status, head coach Neal Brown and the Mountaineers received a commitment from Minnesota transfer DB Beanie Bishop.

The veteran defensive back announced his commitment to transfer to West Virginia via his twitter account on Wednesday evening.

Bishop said he had received an initial offer from the Mountaineers on March 3. He will enter the 2023 season at West Virginia with one year of eligibility remaining.

Bishop was with the Golden Gophers for one season, totaling 29 tackles (20 solo), one sack and one pass breakup while playing in all 13 games. Prior to Minnesota, Bishop spent four years at Western Kentucky, playing in 36 career games.

He compiled 76 tackles (8.5 tackles for loss), 12 passes defended, three interceptions and one forced fumble. Bishop also returned 32 kickoffs for 799 total yards.

Bishop earned multiple awards during his time at Western Kentucky, including 2021 All-Conference USA First Team (Defensive Back), 2021 Conference USA Honorable Mention (Kickoff Returner) and the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week for Nov. 6, 2021.
