WVU Basketball was named a finalist for UT-Martin transfer guard Jordan Sears, he announced on his Instagram. Spears is also considering Alabama, Arizona State, LSU, South Carolina and Texas Tech.

Sears (5-foot-11) averaged 21.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.3 steals in 32 games for the Skyhawks during his junior season. Sears, an Ormond Beach, Fl. native, shot 43% from the field, 43% from three and 84% from the free throw line. Sears was named to the All-Ohio Valley Conference First Team the last two seasons while at UT-Martin. Sears began his career at Gardner-Webb for the first two years of his collegiate career.

Sears has one year of eligibility remaining.

West Virginia formally introduced Darian DeVries as its new head coach on Thursday. While DeVries doesn’t officially have a staff at WVU, it seems like DeVries is finding a way to contact transfers. Sears is the first known transfer to be contacted by West Virginia that’s not any of DeVries’ Drake players. Kevin Overton, Conor Enright and Atin Wright are all considering following their coach to WVU.

West Virginia received its first transfer commitment in Tucker DeVries, the son of Darian on Thursday. Tucker is the reigning back-to-back Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Year. DeVries is ranked as one of the best transfers this offseason.
