WVU F Quinn Slazinski is still looking for an extra year of eligibility by way of a medical redshirt, per interim HC Josh Eilert. Eilert told the media on Tuesday that Slazinski will walk on Senior Night vs. TCU.

“[Medical redshirt] is still a possibility. That’s certainly something that he’s been having conversations with compliance and figuring out some of the back end work in terms of what it would take the waiver to be granted for that one year at Iona,” Eilert said.

Slazinski appeared in seven games in his second season for the Gaels. The 6-foot-8 forward dealt with an ankle injury at Iona that eventually ended his season after surgery. Eilert adds that Slazinski played one extra game past the threshold while returning from the injury but ended up re-aggravating his ankle.

“He has looked to explore that option. I don’t know, it’s going to take some time to figure whether he’s actually going to have that year back or not,” Eilert said.

Slazinski, a fifth-year senior, is averaging 12.4 points and 4.1 rebounds through 29 games. The Houston, Texas native has been one of few rotation players for West Virginia to play throughout the whole season.

Slazinski will walk on Senior Night with RaeQuan Battle, Jesse Edwards, Akok Akok, Kerr Kriisa and Pat Suemnick. Kriisa and Suemnick each have another year of eligibility while the others are done after this season.
