WVU Football in Mix with Other P4s for Talented FCS WR
In an effort to bring in more wide receiver talent, the WVU football staff joined the mix for an FCS player being pursued by several other Power Four programs.
West Virginia sent an offer to McNeese State transfer Jer’Michael Carter on April 22. At 6-foot-4, 184 pounds, Carter played in 12 games for McNeese State in 2024 after only appearing in four as a freshman.

Carter made 37 receptions for 537 yards and scored three touchdowns last season. He was a first-team All-District 9-1A receiver and Louisiana Class A All-State Honorable Mention during his final high school season at Kentwood High School in Kentwood, La.
Baylor, Colorado State, Oklahoma, Tennessee, UConn, Utah, Vanderbilt and Virginia Tech are other major conference schools to offer Carter to this point.
To this point, West Virginia has secured a commitment from ex North Carolina Tar Heel Christian Hamilton as far as wide receiver help from the spring portal.
Hamilton (6-foot, 190 pounds) made seven receptions for 159 yards and scored a touchdown as a freshman for the Tar Heels in 2024 after having just a few catches for 20 yards in limited action the year before.
Hamilton shared a few words about what he would bring to a program when he hit the transfer portal earlier in the week. โHard worker, great teammate/brother that would be blessed to have another opportunity,โ posted Hamilton on social media.ย
A four-star recruit out of high school, Hamilton still has plenty of runway to find success in major college football.
