The Mountaineers currently sit at 2-1 with a weekend road trip to Lawrence on deck. West Virginia is considered a heavy underdog to the Jayhawks. But after WVU finishes up with Kansas, they will have a rising Utah program waiting for them back home at Milan Puskar Stadium.
Unlike WVU, Utah is currently undefeated at 3-0, with wins over UCLA, Cal Poly and Wyoming so far. The No. 16 Utes have Big 12 title favorites No. 17 Texas Tech coming up before heading to West Virginia.
This season’s Week 5 matchup will mark only the third game ever played between WVU and Utah and the first time as conference foes. Utah is a perfect 2-0 all-time against West Virginia, with a 30-14 win in 2017 as the most recent matchup.
WVU to wear throwback uniforms
WVU will unveil their 1965 throwback uniforms against Utah, honoring the 60th anniversary of that season.
What Went Into Making the 1965 Throwback WVU Football Uniform?
The Mountaineers won one of the programโs 15 conference titles in 1965, going 4-0 in Southern Conference play. And itโs important to note, West Virginia won the 1965 edition of the Backyard Brawl at old Mountaineer Field, 63-48.
