In the Holler: 2027 LB Noah Renes on Talks with WVU Football, Recruitment Update
What makes the WVU football staff so interested in Noah Renes, a 2027 linebacker out of a prominent high school in Florida? Well, WV Sports Now caught up with Renes shortly after he revealed his recent offer from West Virginia.
“Blessed to receive an offer from West Virginia!!,” said Renes before tagging WVU coaches and staff members in his post on Sept. 5.
Then, during his talk with WVSN, Renes disclosed what exactly he heard from WVU defensive coordinator Zac Alley at the time of the offer and got into more about his recruitment.
“He (Alley) said he likes the way I play – super fast and physical,” said Renes.
Standing 6-foot-2 and listed at about 230 pounds, Renes attends Niceville High School in Melbourne, Fla.
“To become the best player I can be and make other people who play with me better,” explained Renes when asked about his goals for the rest of his high school career.
And while he’s still early in his recruitment and hoping to add more Power Four programs to the mix, Renes is already building an impressive offer list. So far, Renes has major offers from Illinois, Indiana, Oklahoma and Syracuse. He also has an opportunity with Appalachian State, FIU, Jacksonville State, Liberty, Marshall, Troy and current 2025 Cinderella story USF.
Renes even took a trip to Oklahoma for a game early in the season.
As for the schools he’s been talking to the most that are high on his list, Renes mentioned Duke, Florida, Indiana Oklahoma and Ole Miss.
For an idea of the type of player Renes is and why the Mountaineers are so high on him, he tries to model his game after 10-time Pro Bowler and current Washington Commanders linebacker Bobby Wagner and the younger veteran of the Baltimore Ravens Roquan Smith.
