This afternoon West Virginia first year head coach Neal Brown addressed the media coming off his first victory and although it wasn’t pretty, he was pleased with the outcome, “Glad we got a win, but we have a long ways to go to be where we want to be,” Brown said. “Always good to get started on a good note. There were a lot of mistakes and a lot of teachable moments,” he added.

The Mountaineers had a slow start to the game as they were still trying to feel out James Madison and found themselves trailing 7-3 at halftime. Brown said he expected the team to have some illegal procedures and a few other penalties, but was frustrated at the timing of the penalties. Two of those penalties were on third down and one was inside the four minute mark. This is an area he expects the team will clean up this week ahead of their game at Missouri along with the teams lack of physicality.

As frustrating as parts of the game were for Mountaineer fans on Saturday, Missouri fans had it even worse. They fell victim to Wyoming 37-31 in what was a stunning upset for the Tigers on the road in Laramie. The Tigers have extremely high expectations, especially with Clemson quarterback transfer Kelly Bryant running the offense. With the devastating week one loss, expect Missouri to come out playing ticked.

During his weekly presser, coach Brown was asked on what he expects to see from his team this week as they play a hungry Mizzou team, “We should be a really hungry football team coming into this game. We didn’t play necessarily very well in the game on Saturday and found a way to win. We got a long way to go. We’ve got an extremely tough schedule ahead of us. How we practice, how we handle ourselves today and tomorrow will be a big determinate, but we’ve got to be hungry. I expect them [Missouri] to be hungry, but we better every bit as hungry or maybe more so,” Brown stated.

West Virginia also released an updated depth chart fort this weeks game which you can find here.

The Mountaineers and Tigers will kickoff at NOON on Saturday and will be televised on ESPN2.
