WVU HC Neal Brown Details Weekly Award Winners

Morgantown, WV – West Virginia announced their top performers in the 20-13 win over James Madison Saturday afternoon and on Tuesday, head coach Neal Brown discussed some of the award winners.

Special Team Players of the Week

Exree Loe  – Recovered the muffed punt from D’Angelo Amos. “He was on the fumble recovery,” stated Brown. “He did a great job too, he’s been one of our better special teams players, really since I been here.

Darius Stills – Blocked a field goal with 6:21 left in the second quarter. ” Darius Stills blocked the kicked – the field goal, said Brown. “And really, Jeffery pooler is the one that set up that block. He did a tremendous job getting the penetration and then Darius did what he was coached to do to block the kick.”

Defensive Player of the Week

Rueben Jones – Had two sacks on the day. “He graded out at 93%,” explained Brown. “He’s a high motor guy… He’s been a great take for us. For what he’s done in our room and how he’s played. ”

Offensive Player of the Week

Tevin Bush – Caught four passes for 74 yards and a touchdown. Also, he had the longest play from scrimmage, a 41-yard reception on the first play of the second half. “(He had) One of the most critical plays was the first play of the second half,” said Brown.

Offensive Lineman of the Week

Colton McKivitz – “Graded out at 95%,” stated Brown. “He had zero MA’s (missed assignments) and was the most productive. We grade our guys on a percentage on how they grade from a plus-minus assignment effort, but then we did a production-grade and his production was considerably higher than the other o-linemen.”

Community Service Award of the Week

Josh Growden – “He put in multiple hours,” said Brown. “He’s been a great asset too. He did a good job at LSU. He was always on social media for doing community service there as well. Great Kid.”

Juice Award of the Week

JP Hadley – “We do a juice squad on the sideline,” enlightened Brown. “Those guys are guys that aren’t playing but everybody has a job and their job is to keep the sideline alive and when it gets dead, try to get people into it.”

Scout Offense Player of the Week

Lorenzo Dorr – “He’s playing a little bit of special teams (too),” explained Brown.
