WVU WR Preston Fox Announces End to Football Career
Preston Fox gave everything he had to represent West Virginia and WVU, and now he’s officially ending his football journey. Fox announced his retirement from football on Monday morning, bringing up how he lived his dream by attending and playing for the WVU.
“I wanted to come on here and thank everyone for all the support throughout my career! I have decided to stop playing football for many reasons, but personally it’s time for me to move on,” Fox wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

“West Virginia has made my dreams of earning a scholarship come true, but not only earn a scholarship but compete at the highest collegiate level. Everything comes to an end at some point, but my life is just starting. Thank You West Virginia! Once a Mountaineer, Always a Mountaineer.”
Fox, a Morgantown High School product, ends his college career with 43 receptions, 548 yards and three touchdowns. He caught 12 passes for 131 yards in 2024. Fox also returned 19 kickoffs and 37 punts, averaging 25.1 yards per kickoff returns and 8.1 yards per punt return.
