The senior matched the program record for single-game scoring with 38 points against Utah in what could potentially be her final game inside the WVU Coliseum. She followed that up with 31 points in the regular season final at Cincinnati on Saturday. The Mountaineers cruised to victory in both contests, winning 75-46 over Utah and 85-69 at Cincinnati.
The wins not only moved the Mountaineers up in the rankings, but also earned WVU the No. 4 seed in the upcoming Big 12 Tournament, securing a double bye in the 16-team bracket. The Mountaineers will play their first game Friday at 11 a.m. against either UCF, BYU or Kansas State.
Quinerly shared this week’s honors with Iowa State’s Audi Crooks, who averaged 32.5 points and 9.0 rebounds in a pair of victories. Quinerly was also named Big 12 Player of the Week back on Jan. 20.
For a related story, JJ Quinerly and WVU moved up two spots in this week’s AP Top 25.
