Evan Powell, a Maryland 2025 defensive lineman, has locked in an official visit with the WVU football program. Powell revealed the news on social media on Tuesday.

Powell’s upcoming official visit signals what’s already been evident – West Virginia is still very much in the process of building up their 2025 class as June nears its end.

Listed at 6-foot-4 and 245 pounds, Powell recorded 78 tackles, 17 tackles for a loss and 10 sacks during his junior season for Huntington High School in Huntington, Md. Powell, who has experience at both defensive tackle and defensive end, is viewed as an Edge rusher in college.

Powell also excels in multiple events for his school’s track team.

In addition to the Mountaineers, Powell has offers from Buffalo, JMU, Kent State, Marshall, Memphis and Old Dominion. He even has offers to consider from both Army and Navy. The Marshall and Memphis offers are the most recent from that group.
