WVU Football recruit Javier Etheridge

The WVU football program won’t have to wait much longer to find out if they still have a shot at landing Javier Etheridge. WVSN has learned the three-star athlete will publicly announce his updated list of schools on Sunday.

Etheridge, who plays on both sides of the ball at wide receiver and cornerback, tweeted a graphic with the 10 schools he’s mostly considering that read “final 6 coming soon!!” before the hashtag blessed. West Virginia is now one of nine other programs waiting to learn if they make the cut from 10 to six.

Etheridge (5-foot-10, 165 pounds) is a class of 2024 product who attends Mount Healthy High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. After narrowing his choices down to six, he will be making his final commitment decision on May 13.

He last visited Morgantown on March 25. Ranked as a top 60 player in the state of Ohio by multiple outlets, Etheridge earned number 58 by On3.com and number 49 in 247 Sports’ composite rankings.

In a talk with WVSN, Etheridge said he plans to enroll in January at whichever school he picks. He also expressed his motivation to leave his mark and perform well at the college level.

“I’m not a selfish guy, I really wanna make it far for my teammates. To make sure that I leave a mark for my school.” said Etheridge. “I plan to enroll early in January.”

He then had a message to whichever program he joins.

“They gonna get a great guy that’s willing to work at any time, and they’re gonna get a hard worker. Just a beast mentality. They gonna get somebody that works for it all and got their back like no other.”
