Best Virginia, WVU basketball’s alumni team, announced that former guard Taz Sherman will be joining the team this summer for the TBT tournament.

Sherman joins a team of Teyvon Myers and Jonathan Holton so far. This will be Sherman’s debut in TBT.

“Taz is a three-level scorer, and has the true Mountaineer mentality,” Best Virginia GM Chase Harler said. “We wanted guys this year who bring a level of toughness and Taz is the perfect piece to the puzzle for that.”

Sherman completed his second pro season, this year in Finland. Sherman averaged 19.6 points, 3.2 rebounds and 4.1 assists for Kobrat. Sherman spent his time at West Virginia from 2019-22, where he became a 1,000-point scorer.

Harler returns as Best Virginia’s general manager, while James Long (head coach), Greg Richardson (assistant GM) and Dave Ryan (marketing) also are in the works again with the team.

This will be the first time since 2020 that Best Virginia won’t host their own regional, playing in Charleston and Wheeling the last three summers. Pitt’s alumni team, The Zoo Crew, will do the honors of hosting their own regional this summer at the Petersen Events Center from July 19-24.

The Basketball Tournament is a 64-team field, which the winning team takes home $1 million.
