Huggins, along with all-time players, coaches and officials from the NBA, NCAA and international play, will be voted on throughout the next few months to determine the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2022. The 68-year-old made it to the final stages for the class of 2021, before being left off the list.
WV Sports Now talked with ESPN analyst Jay Bilas, back in November about the possibility of Huggins getting into the hall of fame.
“He’s one of the best coaches I’ve ever watched. It’s a no brainer,” Bilas said. “He will ultimately get into the Hall of Fame, I’m certain of that.”
Bilas mentioned that he thinks it comes down to numbers, as in how many people enter each class. The ESPN analyst doesn’t know what the exact reason is but he knows he’s going to get in one day. Could 2022 be the year for Huggins?
