Breaking: WVU Football Steals Away UCF LB Commit Antoine Sharp

In a surprising development, the WVU football staff stole a top recruit away from another Big 12 program. 2026 linebacker prospect Antoine Sharp announced he’s flipping his commitment from UCF to West Virginia on Wednesday night.
“First off, I want to thank UCF & Coach D for recruiting me! After careful thought & conversations with my family, I’ve decided to decommit from the University of Central Florida. After spending the past weekend in Morgantown I’m blessed to announce that I am committing to the University of West Virginia. Coach Rodriguez, Coach Alley, and the entire WVU staff made it feel like home. I’m confident this is the right place for me to grow — as an athlete, a student, and a man. I’m excited and proud to continue my football journey as a Mountaineer!,” said Sharp on X (formerly Twitter).

Listed at 6-foot-1 and 212 pounds, Sharp is a Florida product out of Palm Beach Central High School.
Sharp’s flip comes after spending a weekend in Morgantown for an official visit. WVU sent him an offer in late January.
In addition to WVU and UCF, Sharp also held offers from Appalachian State, East Carolina, Florida State, Indiana, Liberty, Marshall, Maryland, Missouri, Pitt, Tulane and Western Kentucky among others.
Sharp initially committed to stay in Florida and play for UCF in April. He’s been awarded three stars by most major recruiting services.
Sharp totaled 133 tackles, 13.5 tackles for a loss, 4.5 sacks, an interception and a fumble recovery during the 2024 season.
