The West Virginia Mountaineers (9-12) drop their third straight and fall to 1-7 in the Big 12 in a 93-68 loss to the Iowa State Cyclones. WVU didnโ€™t take care of the ball and the Cyclones took advantage of the Mountaineer mistakes.

Iowa State (16-5, 5-3) scored first and started the game 6-9 from the floor. However, West Virginia kept pace with the number one scoring offense in the Big 12 only down two (13-11) shooting 5-7 from the field.

The Mountaineers when on one of their patented scoring droughts โ€“ going 4:00 mins without a bucket and was on 11-0 run before Lamont West hit an open three from the corner to cut the deficit to six 27-21 with 6:05 remaining in the half.

Cyclones guard Lindell Wigginton outscored the Mountaineers with nine of his 13 first half points in the final three and a half minutes. ย Iowa State got 13 points on 9 WVU turnovers as ISU took a 17-point lead into halftime.

Wigginton put up another 14 points for a season high 28 points and Iowa State continued to build their lead in the second half behind another 10 turnovers.

in the final minutes of the game, West Virginia head coach Bob Huggins got a technical foul that lead to a media timeout and it didn’t stop there. During the timeout he was shouting at officialย ย Darron George from across the floor as WVU assistant coaches Huggins back. George wasn’t having anything to do with it and issued Huggs a second technical and tossed him from the game.

West Virginia forward Lamont West had a team high 24 points, but it wasnโ€™t enough. The Mountaineers gave up 29 points on 19 turnovers in the game and as a result WVU was pounded by 25.

West Virginia hosts the Oklahoma Sooners this Saturday inside the WVU Coliseum at noon.
