The WVU football program just felt the wrath of something the WVU basketball program was part of fighting for. Less than a year after transferring to the WVU football program, Tomiwa Durojaiye is back in the transfer portal thanks to new NCAA rules.

Non graduate multi-time transfers are now able to transfer without having to sit out due to a temporary restraining order granted on Dec. 13. At that time, that ruling opened the door for WVU basketball’s RaeQuan battle to be eligible to play after having previously being deemed ineligible.

Without that order, Durojaiye would not have the flexibility to immediately transfer again without having to wait to be eligible to do so. The WVU defensive lineman just transferred to West Virginia from Kentucky in May of 2023.

It also appears from most accounts about the news of his transfer, Durojaiye’s exit is coming as somewhat of a surprise since he was likely going to receive even more playing time next season.

Durojaye recorded 23 total tackles and six tackles for a loss during the 2023 season as a Mountaineer.

The Middletown, Delaware native was classified as a three-star recruit in the 2022 class out of Middletown High School. He ended up picking Kentucky over WVU out of high school.

Obviously, WVU basketball was simply fighting for their player while the other state attorney generals were focused on everyone and the TRO was not just about Battle, but the ruling that benefited one group of Mountaineers does now trigger the ability for another West Virginia athlete in the athletic department to leave.

WVU G RaeQuan Battle Reflects on Support Throughout the Year

“It’s been amazing. I felt like I had a whole army behind me, especially West Virginia and the fans in general. Since I touched down in Morgantown during the summer it’s been love ever since. Especially now, going at the NCAA and all that stuff. It was different but it’s cool,” Battle told the media after his WVU debut.
