Sunday’s big game is a chance for a West Virginia product to win the ultimate prize for any football player – the Super Bowl.

Kyzir White becomes the 22nd Mountaineer to play in a Super Bowl when his Philadelphia Eagles take on the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII. The 26-year-old helped the Eagles franchise win another NFC title and get back to the Super Bowl in just his first season with the team.

Prior to signing with Philadelphia in March of 2022, White spent the previous four years with the Chargers after Los Angeles drafted him in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft. White reached the NFL thanks to his play in college at WVU. He recorded 152 total tackles, four sacks, three interceptions, nine passes defended, and four forced fumbles during his time as a Mountaineer in the Big 12. Before transferring to West Virginia, the Macungie, Pennsylvania native played two seasons at Lackawanna College.

The last time the Eagles were in the Super Bowl, which eventually led to the franchise winning its first ever Lombardi Trophy, four former Mountaineers claimed Super Bowl rings. Linebacker Najee Goode, defensive back Rasul Douglas, wide receiver Shelton Gibson and running back Wendell Smallwood all represented WVU as Philadelphia beat the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII.
