The New York Knicks completed a sweep of the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday night in the Eastern Conference Finals, meaning former WVU basketball guard Miles McBride will play for an NBA championship.

McBride played 17 minutes off the bench in the series-clincher Monday, finishing with 11 points on 4-6 shooting while going 3-5 from three-point range.

Earlier in the playoffs, McBride helped clinch New York’s second round series with an historic performance. He scored 25 points off seven threes as the Knicks tied a postseason record for team threes with 25.

The last Mountaineer to play in the NBA Finals was Jevon Carter in 2021 with the Phoenix Suns. Prior to him, Jerome Anderson played in the finals with the Boston Celtics in 1976.

In 2024, former WVU guard Joe Mazzulla led the Celtics to an NBA title as their head coach.
