As he attempts to pursue the NFL as a wide receiver, Garrett Greene has been trying to showcase himself in front of team scouts as often as possible. Most recently, Greene attended the local pro days for two NFL franchises who may be looking for more receiver help.

Greene participated in pro days for the Washington Commanders and Tennessee Titans.

Greene appeared in 45 games for the Mountaineers over the course of his five-year career, starting 25 of them. He announced his decision to change positions soon after playing in his final college game – a Frisco Bowl loss to Memphis. Greene earned a grade of 90.8 for his efforts in West Virginiaโ€™s Frisco Bowl loss to Memphis. Despite falling to Memphis 42-37 back on Dec. 17, Greene finished the Frisco Bowl with 328 yards passing and 95 on the ground. He scored three total touchdowns and completed 29-of-40 passes, which was good for 73%.

And after the game, Greene was asked to sum up his college career in West Virginia, something heโ€™s been doing frequently in recent weeks.

โ€œWest Virginia means a lot to me and itโ€™s been such an honor to wear the uniform, wear the Dub V. I wish I couldโ€™ve got it done tonight, but just wasnโ€™t good enough at the end of the game. Iโ€™m super happy a 17-year-old kid made a decision to come up to the mountains.โ€

Including the bowl game, Greene threw for 2,300 yards, threw 15 touchdown passes and 12 interceptions. He ran for 751 yards and scored six more touchdowns with his legs.

Greene finished the 2023 season tied for first in the nation in rushing touchdowns from a quarterback, even though he missed time due to injury. He also ran some routes during the 2022 season, snagging four passes for 32 yards: a switch to receiver wonโ€™t prove entirely foreign for him.

Greene played with characteristic of reckless abandon during his time with the Mountaineers, putting his body on the line in order to pick up every possible yard and often dealing with (or playing through) injuries because of it. At 5-foot-10 and 193 pounds, he probably profiles as a slot receiver in the NFL.

Greeneโ€™s statement about his decision to change positions in pursuit of an NFL career reads as follows.

โ€œPlaying quarterback at West Virginia was an incredible honor that I will cherish for the rest of my life. I would like to thank Coach Brown, all of the staff members I worked with, and my teammates who made my five years in Morgantown so memorable.

My family has always been there for me in both good and challenging times and l know they will continue to be there for me in the future, thank you for your love and support. Most importantly, I want to thank God for the abilities he has blessed me with and the opportunity to praise Him both on and off the field.

Having sung Country Roads for the last time as a Mountaineer, I would like to announce my entry into the 2025 NFL draft as a wide receiver. I look forward to this next chapter of my career and the opportunity to continue playing the game I love at the highest level.โ€
