Geno Smith Keeps Things in Perspective Despite Missing Playoffs
No matter the circumstances, Geno Smith always seems to know what to say. And that was again true on Sunday after he led the Seahawks to a win to close their season despite not making the playoffs.
“Circumstances shouldn’t dictate your mood or your effort. We fight no matter what,” Smith said after Seattle’s 21-20 victory over the Arizona Cardinals. Smith was responding to a question about how he stayed motivated after learning his team no longer had a chance to return to the postseason.

Smith’s 2023 season was far bumpier than 2022 when was named NFL Comeback Player of the Year. In 2022, Smith resurrected his NFL career by leading Seattle to the playoffs thanks to a Pro Bowl season.
The magic did ware off a bit this season. Smith missed games with an injury and the 9-8 Seahawks will be at home or on vacation instead of playing in the playoffs.
Despite all of that, Smith is still keeping things in their proper perspective.
The WVU legend finished the season completing 64.7% of his passes, throwing for 3,624 yards, scoring 21 overall touchdowns and throwing nine interceptions.
