Even though Geno Smith will not be returning to the NFL postseason stage this year, that doesn’t mean there won’t be other former Mountaineers playing for a chance at the Super Bowl.

A few notable WVU products on NFL playoff teams are defensive back Rasul Douglas with Buffalo, linebackers David Long with the Dolphins and Tony Fields II with Cleveland, Baltimore’s Daryl Worley and offensive lineman Colton McKivitz who will be part of another playoff run with the 49ers.

After being traded by the Packers at the deadline, Douglas has quickly become an impact player for the Bills. He recorded 61 total tackles and five interceptions throughout the regular season.

Rasul Douglas Named AFC Defensive Player of the Week After Big Game

Douglas is the only former Mountaineer playing in this postseason who already has a Super Bowl ring. He won with the Eagles after the 2017 season during his rookie year.

Long is coming off his best individual season of his pro career, totally 103 tackles in his first year with Miami.

Fields’ production dropped off in 2023. He posted only 24 tackles after totaling 48 in 2022.

As for McKivitz, he will once again be helping to anchor San Francisco’s offensive line as the 49ers hope to make a Super Bowl run as the NFC’s top seed.

Which WVU football alum will you be rooting for or will maybe your favorite NFL team be standing in the way of a Mountaineer at some point this postseason?

Bruce Irvin was close to experiencing an NFL playoff game again, but he was recently released by the Lions.
