WVU Football TE Jack Sammarco

WVU football has its tight end of the future in Jack Sammarco. The Ohio product signed his national letter of intent with the Mountaineers Wednesday morning.

Sammarco, a class of 2024 product, is listed at 6-foot-6 and 242 pounds and considered a top 50 recruit in Ohio and a top 100 tight end nationally by most outlets. He currently attends Anderson High School in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Adding Sammarco fits well with the West Virginia program’s newfound interest in utilizing the tight end position in the passing game, which was evident during the 2023 season with Kole Taylor.

Sammarco picked WVU over offers from Akron, Army, Bowling Green, Connecticut, Eastern Michigan, Kent State, Miami (OH), Montana State, Toledo and Western Michigan. Cincinnati, Duke, Iowa State, Indiana, Louisville, Michigan, Penn State, Pitt, Tennessee and Virginia Tech are some other schools who also showed interest in Sammarco.

WCU tight ends coach Blaine Stewart now has another big-body tight end with the ability to both catch and block to work with.
