WVU Football Signs Top In-State LB to 2024 Class
WVU Football saw their rush of Early Signing Day commitments continue on Wednesday as Curtis Jones, the Mountain State’s top outside linebacker for the class of 2024, officially signed with the Mountaineers.
Jones, a consensus three-star recruit, starred at both linebacker and running back for Cabell Midland in Ona, W. Va. during his high school career.

The move is something of a formality: the Mountaineers extended Jones an offer in June, and he announced his commitment barely a month later.
Jones earned a pair of Class-AAA All-State selections at running back during his time at Cabell Midland, rushing for more than 1,100 yards in 2022 and receiving first team honors this past season.
Despite his electric ability with the ball in his hands, Jones is expected to make plays away from it during his time with WVU Football, devoting his attention to playing linebacker full time. He stands 6-foot-2 and is listed at 215 pounds, racking up three sacks in 2023 as a linebacker.
