Honor Huff Leaves College as Answer to Trivia Question About April Success
Never appearing in the NCAA Tournament, Honor Huff still made college basketball postseason history with his April success. Capping off his lone WVU season and his college career with a College Basketball Crown title made Huff the winningest April player ever.
Huff is now one of only six players to ever play five more games in April, the month designated as when champions are crowned. Ahead of the rest, Huff stands as the only player to be undefeated at 5-0.
The undersized point guard leaves college as both an NIT and Crown champion, having led Chattanooga to an NIT title in the spring of 2025 before transferring to West Virginia for his final season.
Huff was named the MVP of WVU’s run to winning the second-annual College Basketball Crown, scoring 38 points in 44 minutes in the championship game on Sunday. He was 9-for-19 from the field in the game and also made all 12 of his free throws.
Hoping to lay the foundation for something special when he arrived one year ago, Huff can reflect back on his lone season as a Mountaineer and look on the bright side despite missing out on the NCAA Tournament.
And regardless how much turnover WVU may experience and the lack of connectivity between players of the past and present in college sports today, Huff does believe he helped lay the foundation for any future success Ross Hodge has during his tenure. Huff mentioned that Hodge told his 2025-26 team that they will always hold a special place in his heart as his first with West Virginia, first in the Big 12 etc.
All in all, Huff views his time at WVU as far more of a positive than anything else, so much so that heโs willing to help pitch the school to future recruits and transfers.

Overall in his college career spanning VMI, two seasons with Chattanooga and West Virginia, Huff recorded averages of 14.7 points, a 41.1% clip from the field and 38.3% from longe range.
And Huff now leaves college as the bizarre answer to the bar trivia question of – who is the winningest player in the month of April in college basketball history?
