How Does Cam Cook Rate Compared to Other Top RBs in College Football 27?
A year after establishing himself as the nation’s leading rusher, Cam Cook is back in the Big 12 with West Virginia and ready to take his game to another level.
He’s regarded as one of the best backs in college football, as made evident by his ranking in a popular video game.
Awarded the eighth highest rating at the position, Cook is listed as a 91 overall in College Football 27. And in fact, only six running back are rated higher than 91 – Cook is tied with Florida’s Jana Baugh and Oklahoma State’s Caleb Hawkins at 91.
But despite his recent success at Jacksonville State and ranking in a video game, there’s still pressure to deliver on Cook. There are several key questions that surround his transfer to WVU.
Can he dominate to the same level in the Big 12? Can he handle a big workloadwithout much experience behind him? Will Cook be enough if West Virginia does not find stable backups to share the touches in a run-first offense? These are all valid questions people are asking and wondering about when it comes to Cook as a Mountaineer.
Fully aware of the pressure and expectations, Cook is confident in himself, too. He knows he can take the WVU offense to new heights in 2026.
Cook explained his mentality and why he holds himself to a very high standard after spring practice on Monday, March 30. On the heels of being the nationโs leading rusher in 2025, Cook feels ready to be a featured back in the Big 12 again.
โIโm going to do whatever it takes to help the team,โ Cook said about his role as a Mountaineer. โIโm going to do whatever it takes to help us get to where we need to go. Last year, they asked me to do a lot, and I did whatever the team needed.โ

And following up a session in which he stepped down a level with Jacksonville State, as Cook put it, the senior star running back appears poised to show he belongs in the Big 12 as a focal point of an offense.
โI have changed a lot since then,โ responded Cook when asked how heโs changedsince starting his college career at TCU.
โIโm a bigger back, Iโm faster and smarter. I know whatโs going on on all sides of the field. Not just what the running back is doing, but how the offensive line is blocking and where theyโre trying to get to.โ
