JJ Wetherholt Named MiLB Player of the Year for Cardinals

As a way to honor JJ Wetherholt for his 2025 season, he was named a Minor League Baseball Player of the Year.
As announced on Monday by Baseball America, Wetherholt is the pick to represent the St. Louis Cardinals.
The former WVU star hit .306 with 125 hits, 17 home runs, including one in his final game of the summer, and 59 RBI. He also posted a .931 OPS and stole 23 bases.

Wetherhlolt was named the St. Louis Cardinals Minor League Player of the Month for July.
Wetherholt was promoted from Springfield to Memphis following his first multi-homer game and being named to the National League roster for the MLB All-Star Futures Game – where Wetherholt went 1-for-4 with a double that led off the game.
He also had a four-hit game on July 18.
The St. Louis Cardinals selected Wetherholt with the seventh overall pick in 2024, the highest selection in WVU baseball history. He helped the Mountaineers to an NCAA Super Regional appearance during his final season, setting a series of program records at the plate after breaking out during the 2023 campaign.
Wetherholt began the 2025 season in Double-A and recorded seven home runs, 34 RBI, 44 walks and 14 stolen bases before moving up to Triple-A. He helped the Cardinalsโ Single-A affiliate win the Florida State League championship in 2024, logging the game-winning hit.
